The Challenge
Following the 2018 Woolsey Fire, Malibou Lake experienced significant sediment buildup as runoff from burned upstream areas carried debris into the basin. Over time, this reduced water depth, impacted water quality, and affected the lake’s usability for the surrounding community.
As a historic lake established in 1922 and located within the Santa Monica Mountain range, Malibou Lake also serves as an important natural habitat and ecological corridor, making restoration critical for both environmental and community needs.
Our Solution
DSC Dredge provided a targeted dredging solution using its Moray Class dredge, selected for its ability to operate efficiently in shallow and environmentally sensitive waterways.
The dredge was deployed to remove accumulated sediment and restore lake depth while working within the existing environment. Its portable design and controlled operation allowed for effective sediment removal aligned with the lake’s unique conditions.
