About This Position
At DSC Dredge, the Millwright Technician III role is for experienced millwrights who have mastered their trade and are trusted to work independently on complex mechanical and hydraulic systems. In this role, you’ll utilize your skills and experience to troubleshoot, assemble, and align pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and rotating equipment using detailed machinist drawings and advanced mechanical knowledge.
As a Millwright Technician III, you’ll be a go to resource setting the standard for quality, safety, and craftsmanship while working on custom built dredging equipment.
Position Responsibilities
- Works safely in an industrial environment and around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures; uses/wears all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
- Maintains confidentially of information.
- Travels as required to customer sites to perform modifications and maintenance of mechanical equipment as needed.
- Maintains level of work performance in accordance with DSC’s standards and/or production deadline specifications with minimal supervision.
- Meets all project deadlines; complete all assignments in a timely fashion to meet production deadlines.
- Maintains all maintenance, repair and testing records of machinery at a first class mechanic level in the dredging industry.
- Comprehends and implements detailed written and oral instructions; demonstrates proper judgment and decision making skills.
- Completes all work assignments in a timely fashion with minimum supervision.
- Orders required parts as needed for repairs or assembly of parts.
- Skilled in alignments and layouts with laser and dial indicators.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and makes repairs and/or rebuilds machinery associated with dredging industry such as centrifugal pumps, hydraulic pumps, etc.
- Conducts prevention maintenance/repairs to all departmental machinery.
- Reads and understands drawings, design specifications, service manuals, flowcharts, tables, graphs and manufacturer instructions to repair, install and test machinery used in the dredging industry.
- Maintains an updated journal of work progress on all assigned jobs.
- Trains and evaluates others in your field and under your supervision.
- Works overtime and/or weekends when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- 3+ years of Mechanical and Hydraulic experience
- Knowledge in the use of job related testing and alignment instruments such as, dial indicators, filler gages, calipers, etc.
- Job related knowledge of dredge, dredge equipment and dredge construction.
- Own a complete set of mechanic tools, to include required hand and pneumatic tools to work on large construction type equipment as well as tools to repair smaller type automotive vehicles, include tools up to and including ½” drive.
- Trained in Lock/Out Tag Out Procedures, Fall Arrest, Confined Space and Ladder Safety (on-the-job training if necessary).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform various physical tasks, work in diverse weather conditions, and tolerate a noisy industrial environment.
- Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment testing (drug test, physical, audiogram, pulmonary function test, respiratory fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing.
